Worldwide Meditation Honoring the Heart of Humanity
To celebrate the 200th birthday of the founder of modern nursing, Florence Nightingale, a worldwide virtual meditation will take place at 12 noon wherever you are on the globe on Tuesday, May 12th. Co-sponsors of the event include Nurses’ Global Conference, the Nightingale Initiative for Global Health (NIGH), the HeartMath Institute’s Global Coherence Initiative (GCI), and several other organizations. Access to the meditation can be obtained by downloading the free application, Global Coherence App. The event is for nurses, midwives, and concerned citizens, with the goal of sharing a vision of universal health care and a healthy world for all.
As the world confronts the COVID-19 pandemic, there is no more appropriate time to celebrate the critical role of nurses in keeping us safe. As many around the globe hunker down safely in their homes, nurses are on the frontlines, risking their own health to care for their patients.
The year 2020 has been appropriately deemed “The Year of the Nurse and Midwife,” according to international co-directors of NIGH, Deva-Marie Beck PhD, RN, and Barbara Dossey PhD, RN, during a recent webinar, “Revisiting Florence Nightingale: Celebrating Our Heritage & History: Committing to Our Now & Our Future.”
Florence Nightingale was a true trailblazer, fiercely advocating for cultural integrity and cross-cultural understanding. A statistician to her very core, Nightingale stressed the importance of nurses gathering data and investing themselves fully in their patients with as much knowledge and information as possible. The global meditation will unite people worldwide in the mission to ensure everyone gets their health needs met with compassion and dignity.
Aside from collaborating in efforts to promote global cohesion, the GCI is making great strides to provide peace, harmony, and a shift in global consciousness. With ground-breaking research on the connection between humanity and Earth’s magnetic fields and energy systems, GCI states that increasing heart connections leads to intuitive, global solutions to issues that challenge the planet. By demonstrating the GCI message of living a heart-centered life, they hope to elevate global consciousness.
Another endeavor working to help uplift humanity is the Global Consciousness Project (GCP), which is being spearheaded by Princeton University. Researchers from numerous institutions and countries are currently exploring whether the construct of interconnected consciousness can be scientifically proven. GCP builds on a project conducted 35 years ago that demonstrated how human consciousness interacts with a device called a random event generator to produce non-random patterns. The project is attempting to objectively measure the impact on humanity and the planet of having an interconnected consciousness.
As the world endures the mental, emotional, physical, and financial stress of the COVID-19 pandemic, numerous organizations are collaborating to bring peace and unity to the world. The May 12, 2020, meditation is being conducted globally in hopes that together with one heart, one mind, and one world, it is possible to create a future of compassion and love in health care.
