The States with the Longest Life Expectancy
A new study ranked the 50 states in the US by life expectancy. The study, conducted by NiceRX, looked at each state’s life expectancy at birth in 2020, and found that life expectancy has fallen in some states, possibly due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Hawaii, the only state to reach the 80-year mark, came in at number one in life expectancy, at 80.7 years. In 2019, the life expectancy for Hawaiians was 82.3 years, which may have dropped due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The second and third states on the list, Washington and Minnesota, had life expectancies of 79.2 and 79.1 years, respectively. The state with the lowest life expectancy, Mississippi, came in at 71.9 years.
