Reiki Principles of Gratitude

Nov 22, 2024

Research has shown that people who actively practice gratitude are happier and are less likely to suffer from depression and anxiety than those who don’t. Gratitude is at the heart of the principles of the healing energy therapy known as Reiki: giving up control and gratefully receiving restorative energy.

Gratitude comes from an awareness of our blessings and a shift in focus from lack to one of abundance. One study noted that a group of subjects asked to write gratitude letters used more “we” words than a group asked to write about negative experiences.

Reiki encourages being open to positive energy, grateful for blessings, and being willing to surrender control of the outcome. Through practice of these principles, Reiki helps connect people with each other, to the planet, and to a nurturing, non-judgmental life force.
